Ingredients
Avocado oil
1 tbsp or 14g
Directions
- Peel plantain and slice plantain at an angle to desired thickness.
- Pour Avocado oil into a skillet pan until the surface is fully covered. Allow 1/4in - 1/2in to sit above the pan so it can adequately cook each side of the plantain.
- Heat skillet on medium-high heat.
- Place plantains on the skillet with tongs and constantly flip to avoid burning plantains on either side. Cook each side of the plantains until golden brown. Do not overcook plantains and allow the color to reach a dark brown.
- Remove plantains from the pan and rest on a paper towel. Smash plantains with a plantain smasher or use an object with a straight surface like the bottom of a cup.
- Fry plantains in the skillet again for about 1 min on each side. Remove plantains once they are golden brown.
- Season plantains (tostones) with salt over the top.
