Directions

  1. Heat peanut oil in a wok or large frying pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Press excess moisture from tofu and cut into cubes.
  3. Add the cubed tofu and cook until browned on all sides.
  4. Add onion, bell pepper, green chile pepper, and crushed garlic. Cook until just tender, about 5 minutes.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the hot water, vinegar, soy sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, and red pepper flakes. Adjust to taste and add more water if needed.
  6. Pour sauce over the tofu and vegetables, toss to coat, and simmer until the sauce thickens slightly, about 3 to 5 minutes.
