  1. Finely chop the onion and scallions.
  2. Put sesame oil in a pot and fry the onion over medium heat.
  3. Add the red pepper powder and mix until the oil starts oozing out.
  4. Add water, dark soy sauce, and brown sugar.
  5. Cut the pack of soft tofu in half, add it to the stew, and mash with a spoon.
  6. When the stew is about to boil, break the egg in and turn off the heat.
  7. Top with scallions and minced garlic.
