Directions

  1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil.
  2. In a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat, cook the turkey sausage, breaking up the meat with a wooden spoon, until cooked through, about 3 to 5 minutes. Remove to a plate.
  3. Heat the olive oil in the same skillet. Add the peppers and onion, cooking and stirring frequently until the vegetables are lightly colored and crisp-tender, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add the red wine and minced garlic. Cook until most of the liquid evaporates, about 1 minute.
  5. Add the crushed tomatoes, crushed red pepper, salt, and browned sausage. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer until the vegetables are tender and the sauce is heated through, about 10 minutes.
  6. While the sauce simmers, add the pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions. Drain the pasta and return it to the pot.
  7. Add the sauce and fresh basil to the pasta. Toss to coat and serve.
