Directions

  1. Bring a large pot of well-salted water to a rolling boil. Add the pasta and cook until al dente per package directions.
  2. Reserve about 1 cup of the starchy cooking water, then drain the pasta and return it to the warm pot.
  3. Add the softened butter and Parmesan to the hot pasta and toss vigorously until glossy and evenly coated, loosening with small splashes of reserved cooking water as needed.
  4. Season with salt and black pepper to taste and serve immediately.
