  1. Warm the olive oil in a deep pot over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic and cook until softened and fragrant, 3–4 minutes.
  2. In a blender, combine the beans with 1 cup of the water and blend until mostly smooth.
  3. Pour the blended beans into the pot. Stir in the tomato sauce, celery, carrot, chicken broth, basil, bay leaf, parsley, oregano, salt, pepper, and the remaining 1 cup water. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, for about 20 minutes.
  4. Stir in the pasta and cook uncovered, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is al dente according to package directions.
  5. Taste and adjust salt and pepper if needed. Ladle into bowls and serve hot.
