Directions

  1. Crush black berries, or blend them in a blender/food processor. This should yield about 3 cups (liquid).
  2. Add the 5 1/4 cups of sugar to the crushed berries. Stir until well combined. Let berries and sugar rest for 10 min. (While it's resting, wash your freezer safe containers).
  3. In a small sauce pan, combine the package of pectin and 3/4 cup of water. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Boil for 1 minute.
  4. Add pectin mixture to fruit/sugar mixture. Stir for 3 minutes.
  5. Ladle jam into freezer safe containers leaving about 1/2" of headspace.
  6. Let at room temperature for 24 hours, then put in fridge or freezer (good in fridge for 1 month, good in freezer for 1 year)
