  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F and position the rack in the upper third. Lightly oil a shallow baking pan.
  2. Melt the butter with hot sauce, salt, and pepper over medium heat. Reserve about half of the sauce for serving.
  3. Combine bread crumbs with the remaining oil in a bowl.
  4. Place the salmon skin side down in the baking pan, season with salt and pepper, and brush with the remaining sauce. Sprinkle bread crumbs evenly over the fish.
  5. Bake until the bread crumbs are golden and the fish is just cooked through to 145°F, about 16 to 22 minutes. Serve with the reserved sauce on the side.
