  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and cook the pasta according to the package instructions.
  2. Dice the bacon and cook it in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the bacon and set it aside on a paper towel-lined bowl, leaving the renderings in the pan.
  3. Reduce the heat to medium, add the diced onions to the pan, and cook until they are translucent and starting to caramelize.
