  1. Core and very thinly slice the cabbage.
  2. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the onions and sugar, stirring occasionally, and let caramelize for about 5 minutes.
  4. Add the cabbage and season with salt and pepper. Stir occasionally and cook until mostly wilted, about 10 minutes.
  5. Turn the heat down to medium-low and let cook, stirring frequently, until the cabbage begins to caramelize, about 10 minutes. Be careful not to let it burn.
