  2. In a 2-quart heavy saucepan, bring the half-and-half, brown sugar, corn syrup, and salt to a boil over moderately high heat, whisking until smooth. Remove from heat and whisk in the peanut butter until the mixture is smooth. Transfer to a glass measuring cup or small heatproof pitcher and let cool slightly, about 5 minutes.
