  1. Place dry pinto beans in the slow cooker and fill it nearly to the top with water, about ¾ full.
  2. Crush the chicken bouillon cubes and sprinkle them evenly over the water. Add garlic powder and onion to the slow cooker.
  3. Cook on low for 8-10 hours until beans are soft, stirring occasionally. Add more water as needed.
  4. Strain the beans, reserving the cooking liquid.
  5. Add ½ cup of butter and a small amount of the reserved cooking liquid to the beans.
  6. Use a hand blender to mash the beans, adding liquid to reach the desired consistency. Leave them slightly runny as they will thicken quickly.
  7. Serve and enjoy!
