  2. Trim the woody ends from the asparagus. Optionally halve the spears lengthwise for quicker, more even roasting.
  3. On a rimmed sheet pan, toss the asparagus with the melted butter and salt and pepper to taste until evenly coated.
  4. Roast until just tender and lightly browned in spots, 10–12 minutes, tossing once halfway through. Serve hot.
