  1. Rinse and drain the cooked lentils well. In a medium bowl, mash them until mostly smooth, then stir in the salt, nutritional yeast, cumin, soy sauce, crushed walnuts, and bread crumbs until evenly combined.
  2. Divide the mixture into 4 portions and shape into patties about 3 1/2–4 inches wide; press to a moderate thickness so they hold together.
  3. Warm the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties until browned and crisp, about 2–3 minutes per side.
  4. Serve the patties on buns with tomato slices and shredded lettuce.
