  2. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the trimmed, halved green beans and blanch until crisp‑tender, 3–4 minutes, then drain very well.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, garlic powder, black pepper, the drained green beans, and half of the crispy fried onions. Stir until everything is evenly coated.
  4. Spread the mixture in the prepared baking dish and bake until hot and bubbly, about 15 minutes. Sprinkle the remaining onions over the top and bake 5–7 minutes more until golden and crisp.
