  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F. Toast the sesame seeds for about 10 minutes until golden, then crush them with a knife.
  2. Rinse the tofu and place it in a saucepan covered with cold water. Bring to a simmer over medium-high heat, then reduce to low and keep warm.
  3. Mince and mash the garlic with a pinch of salt to form a paste. Combine with soy sauce, sesame oil, red pepper flakes, scallions, and sugar.
  4. Lift the tofu from the saucepan with a spatula, drain on paper towels, and pat dry. Place on a plate, spoon some sauce over it, and serve warm with extra sauce on the side.
